(July 25, 2016 6:01 a.m.) — PHILADELPHIA — The Convention-eve resignation of Democratic National Committee Chair Debbie Wasserman Schultz Sunday evening emphasized that this week’s party conclave in Philadelphia may not be the seamless coronation that most Democratic operatives pined for.

Embarrassing emails showed that party leaders had conspired to short-circuit the maverick campaign of Vermont Sen. Bernie Sanders. That led Schultz to announce, within just hours of the news breaking, that she would step down at week’s end, after more than a decade as Democratic Party chair.

(July 22, 2016, 9:00 p.m.) — In June a hacker who goes by the name Guccifer 2.0 — a different hacker than the original Guccifer — released some emails alleging collusion between the DNC and mainstream media to suppress the Bernie Sanders campaign. In June, the Inquisitr reported that Julian Assange promised a forthcoming document dump while releasing a “torrent insurance” file.

On Friday, MotherBoard reported that the hacker confirmed responsibility for a 20,000-email Wikileaks dump of DNC files, many of which clearly illustrate how the DNC attempted to mute the Bernie Sanders campaign.

(July 22, 2016 12:38 p.m.) — AMONG THE NEARLY 20,000 internal emails from the Democratic National Committee, released Friday by Wikileaks and presumably provided by the hacker “Guccifer 2.0,” is a May 2016 message from DNC CFO Brad Marshall. In it, he suggested that the party should “get someone to ask” Democratic presidential candidate Bernie Sanders about his religious beliefs.

It might may no difference, but for KY and WVA can we get someone to ask his belief. Does he believe in a God. He had skated on saying he has a Jewish heritage. I think I read he is an atheist. This could make several points difference with my peeps. My Southern Baptist peeps would draw a big difference between a Jew and an atheist.

(July 21, 2016) — With the Democratic National Convention only a few days away, Bernie Sanders supporters are excited to hear their favorite leader speak, but will his DNC speech focus on booting out the current Chair of the Democratic National Committee, Debbie Wasserman-Schultz?

This can be potentially disappointing news to those in the Democratic Party that want to #UniteBlue and have Bernie Sanders fans voting for Hillary Clinton, but the struggle against Debbie Wasserman-Schultz might define Bernie Sanders’ timeline during and after the DNC.

(July 19, 2016 3:50 p.m.) — In case you need another reminder that much of the 2016 election seems to be on the same maturity level as a middle school student council contest, there’s this: Bernie Sanders supporters are planning a “fart-in” at the Democratic National Convention in Philadelphia next week to protest Hillary Clinton’s nomination.

“For us, this whole thing is a farce, it’s a charade,” organizer Cheri Honkala told NBC News. “They’re creating the illusion of democracy in a very important historical location, Philadelphia, and we’re really saddened by that.”

(July 18, 2016 9:00 p.m.) — Bernie Sanders supporter Carmela D’Amico, writing for Salon, explained on Sunday why she will be writing in the Vermont senator in November, rather than opting for the Democratic nominee, Hillary Clinton.

D’Amico begins by criticizing the American electoral system, highlighting the inherent limitations of the two-party system.

“Most of us were taught from kindergarten on that our government is a Democracy and that America is the freest country on Earth,” D’Amico writes. “Perhaps the reason so few of us vote is that the benefits of all this democratic freedom don’t always measure up to all the hype. For example, instead of having one presidential candidate to choose from — like in a dictatorship — we get two.”

(July 17, 2016 10:30 a.m.) — On Nov. 8, 2016, approximately 54 percent of all eligible U.S. voters will flex their Constitutional right to vote in the general election. In case you aren’t aware of how Americans prioritize their politics, here’s a glimpse: 74 percent of this same demographic tuned in to watch the Super Bowl last year.

Most of us were taught from kindergarten on that our government is a Democracy and that America is the freest country on Earth. Perhaps the reason so few of us vote is that the benefits of all this democratic freedom don’t always measure up to all the hype.
