(July 26, 2016, 12:43 p.m.) — AS MY COLLEAGUE Glenn Greenwald told WNYC on Monday, while there may never be conclusive evidence that the Democratic National Committee was hacked by Russian intelligence operatives to extract the trove of embarrassing emails published by WikiLeaks, it would hardly be shocking if that was what happened.

“Governments do spy on each other and do try to influence events in other countries,” Glenn noted. “Certainly the U.S. government has a very long and successful history of doing exactly that.”

(July 23, 2016 8:00 a.m.) — Luis Miranda, Communications Director at Democratic National Committee, instructed Walter Garcia, Western Regional Communications Director at the DNC, to spread an article written by Jon Ralston in May 2016, according to the WikiLeaks files released Friday. This is pertinent because DNC officials are required to remain unbiased to all candidates during the primary season.

(July 22, 2016 12:38 p.m.) — AMONG THE NEARLY 20,000 internal emails from the Democratic National Committee, released Friday by Wikileaks and presumably provided by the hacker “Guccifer 2.0,” is a May 2016 message from DNC CFO Brad Marshall. In it, he suggested that the party should “get someone to ask” Democratic presidential candidate Bernie Sanders about his religious beliefs.

It might may no difference, but for KY and WVA can we get someone to ask his belief. Does he believe in a God. He had skated on saying he has a Jewish heritage. I think I read he is an atheist. This could make several points difference with my peeps. My Southern Baptist peeps would draw a big difference between a Jew and an atheist.

(June 30, 2016 09:15 p.m.) — The National Congress of American Indians invited four presidential candidates to its mid-year conference in Spokane this week. But only one addressed the congress directly.

Although Hillary Clinton is likely to be the Democratic party’s nominee for president, Bernie Sanders is still on the campaign trail. In a three-and-a-half minute video message to the National Congress of American Indians, Sanders said he’d continue to fight for a progressive agenda.

“To my mind, we need to fundamentally change the relationship between the United States government and the native American community,” Sanders said.

By Jerry Iannelli, New Times (Broward, Palm Beach)

(June 29, 2016 1:04 p.m.) — Amid allegations that Democratic National Committee Chair Debbie Wasserman Schultz “rigged” the Democratic presidential primary in favor of Hillary Clinton, 120 people, including 104 Bernie Sanders donors, sued both Wasserman Schultz and the DNC in the Southern District Court of Florida yesterday for fraud, negligence, misrepresentation, and other claims. They alleged she misled the DNC and Sanders donors into thinking she was “impartial.”

The suit comes after a group of Russian hackers published emails they claim show the DNC had, since May 2015, been planning strategies to help Hillary Clinton defeat Donald Trump in the general election.

(June 28, 2016 6:00 p.m.) — On Tuesday, Democratic presidential candidate Bernie Sanders penned an op-ed in the New York Times, arguing, in essence, that the Democratic Party must wake up to the realities facing working people around the world or risk being tossed aside by the right-wing demagogues on the rise in both the United States and Europe.

Reflecting on the recent “Brexit” vote, Sanders argues that political and economic elites, including the Democratic Party of the United States, have become disconnected from the lives of the people they purport to represent.

“Workers in Britain, many of whom have seen a decline in their standard of living while the very rich in their country have become much richer, have turned their backs on the European Union and a globalized economy that is failing them and their children,” Sanders wrote.

By Ben Kamisar, The HIll

(June 18, 2016 9:19 pm EST) — Progressive leaders are urging Bernie Sanders to keep up his fight in primary battles across the country even as his campaign winds down.

Sanders has refused repeated calls to drop out and endorse presumptive Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton. But he signaled a shift in priorities toward leaving a mark on the Democratic Party instead of contesting the nomination during a Thursday night address to supporters.

Part of that shift was a call to action to bring progressive ideas to down-ballot races, which has left Sanders supporters hopeful that he’ll continue to lend his star power to ushering progressives through their primaries and take on the party’s establishment.

(May 24, 2016 6:07 pm) — Bernie Sanders is staking some of his post-presidential campaign legacy on a challenger to the DNC chair.

Suddenly, Tim Canova is the most famous primary challenger in America.

With Bernie Sanders’ unexpected endorsement on national television, Canova, a lawyer from Hollywood, Fla., got a dramatic boost for his liberal challenge to Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz, the chairman of the Democratic National Committee. In three days since Sanders endorsed him, Canova’s phone has been ringing off the hook, he’s been all over the national news, and his campaign is suddenly grabbing the attention of national Democrats.

Bernie Sanders serves lawsuit on Democratic National Committee

By Stephen Dinan – The Washington Times

Sen. Bernard Sanders isn’t willing to give up his lawsuit against the Democratic Party just yet.

His presidential campaign informed a federal court Thursday that it had finally served the Democratic National Committee with the lawsuit, filed late last year after the DNC cut off Mr. Sanders’ access to the party’s voter data files.

Mr. Sanders’ lawyer said the move was meant to keep their legal options open as they negotiate with the DNC, and he said they are making progress in the months-old negotiations.
