(July 28, 2016 4:48 a.m.) — As one of Wednesday’s keynote speakers at the Democratic National Convention, President Barack Obama gave Hillary Clinton a mighty endorsement. But that doesn’t mean he let Bernie Sanders’ movement slip out of the spotlight. As the camera caught a glimpse of Sanders reacting to Obama’s “Feel the Bern” comment, the Vermont senator’s humbled pride shone brightly.

Refusing to react too enthusiastically, Sanders looked as though he was trying his absolute hardest to suppress a huge smile. Though the democratic socialist may not be thrilled about losing out on the party’s nomination, he’s certainly proud of how far his supporters have helped his movement come.

(June 30, 2016 09:15 p.m.) — The National Congress of American Indians invited four presidential candidates to its mid-year conference in Spokane this week. But only one addressed the congress directly.

Although Hillary Clinton is likely to be the Democratic party’s nominee for president, Bernie Sanders is still on the campaign trail. In a three-and-a-half minute video message to the National Congress of American Indians, Sanders said he’d continue to fight for a progressive agenda.

“To my mind, we need to fundamentally change the relationship between the United States government and the native American community,” Sanders said.

(June 29, 2016 1:04 p.m.) — Amid allegations that Democratic National Committee Chair Debbie Wasserman Schultz “rigged” the Democratic presidential primary in favor of Hillary Clinton, 120 people, including 104 Bernie Sanders donors, sued both Wasserman Schultz and the DNC in the Southern District Court of Florida yesterday for fraud, negligence, misrepresentation, and other claims. They alleged she misled the DNC and Sanders donors into thinking she was “impartial.”

The suit comes after a group of Russian hackers published emails they claim show the DNC had, since May 2015, been planning strategies to help Hillary Clinton defeat Donald Trump in the general election.

(June 28, 2016 6:00 p.m.) — On Tuesday, Democratic presidential candidate Bernie Sanders penned an op-ed in the New York Times, arguing, in essence, that the Democratic Party must wake up to the realities facing working people around the world or risk being tossed aside by the right-wing demagogues on the rise in both the United States and Europe.

Reflecting on the recent “Brexit” vote, Sanders argues that political and economic elites, including the Democratic Party of the United States, have become disconnected from the lives of the people they purport to represent.

“Workers in Britain, many of whom have seen a decline in their standard of living while the very rich in their country have become much richer, have turned their backs on the European Union and a globalized economy that is failing them and their children,” Sanders wrote.

(May 10, 2016 05:35 a.m.) — Bernie Sanders stopped by The Late Show with Stephen Colbert Monday night and helped Stephen retrieve a candy bar that was stuck in a vending machine. In the opening segment of the show, the Senator from Vermont assured Colbert that there was no reason to give up on his delicious treat.

Unfortunately, the late night host didn’t share the same feelings about Bernie’s chances of becoming the Democratic nominee for president.

(April 30, 2016 4:07 p.m.) — Bernie Sanders became the first socialist mayor of Burlington, Vermont, and ran successfully as an Independent for the House of Representatives and then the Senate. Now, the Democratic challenger to Hillary Clinton has young voters “feeling the Bern.”

The political career of Bernie Sanders nearly ended before it began. In the early 1970s, he lost his first four races — two for the Senate and two for governor — running on the ticket of Vermont’s radical Liberty Union Party, while espousing positions such as ending the Vietnam War and abolishing the CIA. But when he ran as an Independent for mayor of Burlington in 1981, the socialist Sanders beat the five-term Democratic incumbent.
