(Mar. 12, 2016) — MIAMI — Convinced that his surprising victory in Michigan represented a turning point, Senator Bernie Sanders and his advisers are maneuvering and spending aggressively to pull off a huge upset on Tuesday — a victory in the Ohio primary — by focusing on Hillary Clinton’s past support for trade deals that are deeply unpopular in the Midwest and other key states in his updated battle plans.

(Mar. 9, 2016, 16:32) — Bernie Sanders’ upset in the Michigan primary Tuesday can be attributed, in part, to a strong showing in Dearborn, Michigan, which has the largest concentration of Arab Americans in the nation. Sanders won almost 60 percent of the vote there, besting rival Hillary Clinton.

Apparently, something about Sanders resonated with residents.

(Mar. 9, 2016) — Bernie Sanders is showing no signs of slowing down after pulling off an upset victory in Michigan and sees an opportunity ahead to gain ground, as his campaign suggests one of Hillary Clinton’s biggest built-in advantages is about to become irrelevant.

To date, Clinton’s “firewall” of Southern states has delivered her a string of victories, most recently in Mississippi. Across the Deep South, black voters who make up a majority of the Democratic primary electorate there went overwhelmingly for Clinton.

Republican Donald Trump swept to victory in both Michigan and Mississippi, overcoming fierce efforts to blunt his momentum.

(Mar. 9, 2016 22:58 EST) TYT just called Michigan for Bernie Sanders. Sanders took 51% to Clinton’s 47.1% with 74% of the polling stations reporting.

This is a huge win for Sanders having denied the key state of Michigan to Clinton.

Given Michigan’s demographic makeup, Sanders has broadened his appeal across more of the voting population as his campaign continues to gain momentum.
