(Mar. 28, 2016) — Fewer than a million Arizona residents turned out to vote in the primary, and just over 400,000 Democrats. However, there are over 3 million Arizonans registered. Democratic candidate Bernie Sanders stressed that this is a much lower voter turnout than expected, and that fixing the issues behind it would be detrimental for upcoming primaries.

(Mar 27, 2016 08:38) — Presidential hopeful Bernie Sanders achieved his goal of a trifecta in Saturday’s caucuses to chip away at Hillary Clinton’s lead by winning the states of Washington, Hawaii, and Alaska by huge margins.

In the biggest contest of the night with 101 delegates at stake, the Pacific Northwest state of Washington was called for Sanders after he was leading by a huge margin, garnering 72.7 percent of the vote. In one county, almost 90 percent of ballots were cast for Sanders.

(Mar. 26, 2016) — Senator Bernie Sanders handily defeated Hillary Clinton on Saturday in the Washington State and Alaska caucuses, infusing his underdog campaign with critical momentum and bolstering his argument that the race for the Democratic nomination is not a foregone conclusion.

Mr. Sanders found a welcome tableau in the largely white and liberal electorates of the Pacific Northwest, where just days after routing Mrs. Clinton in Idaho he won another resounding victory in Washington. The Associated Press declared him the winner after early results showed him beating Mrs. Clinton by more than 50 percentage points. In Alaska, he had a nearly 60-point lead.

To the delight of thousands in the crowd, the bird first landed on the stage and then perched on the podium.

“I think there may be some symbolism here,” Sanders said. “That bird is really a dove asking us for world peace. No more wars.”

Taking the microphone shortly before 8 p.m., Sanders joked he’d dreamed as a boy of being at home plate at a major-league ballpark. “But I didn’t know I would be giving a speech. I thought I would have a bat in my hand,” he said.

(Mar. 24, 17:57) — A powerful West Coast union of dock and warehouse workers has endorsed Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.) for president, giving his campaign a boost heading into a series of primary contests there.

The International Longshoremen and Warehouse Union said its executive board voted on the endorsement Thursday. Its president, Robert McEllrath, said in a statement that Sanders is “best on the issues that matter most to American workers.” The union, known for its militant history, now represents roughly 50,000 workers in California, Oregon, Washington, Alaska and Hawaii.

Sen. Bernard Sanders isn’t willing to give up his lawsuit against the Democratic Party just yet.

His presidential campaign informed a federal court Thursday that it had finally served the Democratic National Committee with the lawsuit, filed late last year after the DNC cut off Mr. Sanders’ access to the party’s voter data files.

Mr. Sanders’ lawyer said the move was meant to keep their legal options open as they negotiate with the DNC, and he said they are making progress in the months-old negotiations.
