(June 1, 2016 13:59 PT) — A Federal judge refused Wednesday to reopen voter registration in California ahead of next week’s presidential primary, telling a group led by backers of Vermont Sen. Bernie Sanders that the rights of the state’s unaffiliated voters have not been harmed.

“There’s absolutely no showing of any federal violation,” said U.S. District Judge William Alsup.

Thurston Moore Made A Song With Bernie Sanders

By Tom Breihan, Stereogum.com

(June 1, 2016 1:14 pm) — Thurston Moore, the former Sonic Youth co-leader, did not actually head into the studio to cut a record with presidential candidate Bernie Sanders, amazing though that might’ve been. But he did work with the Sanders campaign in putting together a new piece of music called “Feel It In Your Guts.” The track — credited to Moore and Sanders the same way that Pope Francis album was credited to the Pope — takes bits from Sanders speeches and layers them over Moore’s 12-string acoustic guitar work.

And Moore is giving the song away to anyone who donates to the Sanders campaign. To get the track, all you have to do is head over to joyfulnoiserecordings.com and show evidence that you’ve contributed to the Sanders campaign since yesterday, and you’ll get the song as either a free download or a free flexi-disc.

SANTA CRUZ, California (June 1, 2016 8:41 am) — Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-VT) held two rallies on the Central Coast on Tuesday, vowing to tackle the political “oligarchy” of “superdelegates” in the Democratic Party.

“Hillary can show you how absurd the current system is,” Sanders said, noting that the former Secretary of State had “received over 400 super delegates supporting her before anyone else was in the race… That is an absurd system and together we are going to change that system.”

Sanders spoke before 2,500 at the Kaiser Permanente Arena in Santa Cruz, and at Colton Hall in Monterey, where almost double that number turned up.

(May 31, 2016 3:42 p.m.) — Local supporters of Sen. Bernie Sanders were hella feeling the Bern.

On Monday, they were also feeling the pain of standing on their feet: an epic line preceded the presidential candidate’s speech at Frank Ogawa Plaza and traversed six city blocks.

While that may not sound impressive, given that the line was given the amusement park treatment and snaked throughout the six blocks, the feat has a bit more gravitas. Sanders supporters seemed pretty pleased with the turnout, with one person recording a (thankfully) sped up video of the line, estimating that the walk was about 17 minutes long:

(May 31, 2016 3:28 pm) — America’s two major political parties are poised this year to pit a couple of historically disliked presidential candidates against each other. Donald Trump and Hillary Clinton’s unfavorable ratings are bad news for both the Democrats and the Republicans — but those ratings could be another candidate’s chance to dismantle the country’s two-party system.

That’s exactly what presumptive Green Party nominee Jill Stein is counting on. Rolling Stone recently spoke to Stein about her entreaty to Bernie Sanders to join the Green Party ticket, about her plans to do away with student debt, combat climate change and pay reparations to the descendants of slaves.

‘A capacity to move voters’ : can California be Sanders’ golden state?

(May 29, 2016 7:05 a.m. ET) — After Hillary Clinton won the New York Democratic primary in April, her surrogates began relaying the message: game over, Bernie Sanders. Time to go home. It is mathematically impossible to win the nomination.

Technically, they were right. The rivals may be separated by only 270 pledged delegates, a large but not insurmountable gap, but that figure does not take into account the superdelegates who do not owe allegiance to any vote and almost all of whom – 571 – are already pledged to Clinton.

(May 28, 2016 03:05 a.m. ET) — The Democratic presidential candidate told Bill Maher on “Real Time” Friday night that he’d have “loved” to discuss policy issues with the real estate mogul.

He even clenched his fists in anticipation of the televised scrap. But he was left disappointed after The Donald flip-flopped over the issue at least four times, before eventually pulling out.

By Daryl Parsons, PS

(May 27, 2016 6:00 p.m.) — Bernie Sanders returned to the Young Turks for the second time for a one-on-one interview with host Cenk Uygur.

Sanders was asked about the possibility of holding a one-on-one debate with Donald Trump, his campaign for president, and the democratic process and other policy and related issues.

The Young Turks vouched to donate $1M to charity in support of, and in response to Donald Trump’s earlier claims that he would debate Sanders for $10M to be donated to charity.

The prospect of a debate between Trump and Sanders has not been finalized and hinges on Donald Trump committing to follow through with the debate.

(May 27, 2016 8:45 a.m.) — ANAHEIM, Calif. — Senator Bernie Sanders may be trailing Hillary Clinton by hundreds of delegates, and Mrs. Clinton may be treating the Democratic nomination as hers, but Julie Crowell, a stay-at-home mother and a die-hard Sanders supporter, is holding out for an 11th-hour miracle: divine deliverance at the hands of the F.B.I.

Like many of Mr. Sanders’s supporters, Ms. Crowell, 37, said she hoped that Mrs. Clinton’s use of a private email server during her time as secretary of state would eventually yield an indictment, and she described it as the kind of transgression that would disqualify another politician seeking high office.
